SLC Mobile app
Use the app to report incidents like graffiti, homeless camps, and potholes. It’s a free, civic engagement platform that allows the public to communicate non-emergency civic issues directly to city government.
Tips about reporting on the App
- Give an accurate location. Calmly explain the incident.
- If police arrive at the scene write a precise, brief report about the incident; 100-125 words. The police will give you a case number. DO NOT file a second report online. It will be rejected as redundant.
- If possible collect evidence and take photos.
- Observe details: height, weight, hair, race, gender, clothes; car make, 2-door, 4-door, license plate, color, etc.
- If police do not arrive or the incident does not merit a visit, file an online report. The police department will review it and assign a case number if it meets certain criteria. Incidents are filed according to the crime type. Look for the most appropriate category.
- Check the case number for follow-ups.
- If you feel that more action could be taken, check back with the police officer assigned to the case, or a supervisor.
* Crimes reported on the SLC Mobile App are not recorded as official statistics. When witnessing a non-emergency crime you can also call the SLCPD at 801-799-3000.
