Homeless Resource Center Annual Reports Now Publicly Available

Thanks to Salt Lake City Councilmember Ana Valdemoros for making public the annual reports required for homeless resource centers.  The reports are intended to provide information about the complaints received by the community of the impacts of the facilities and explain how the complaints have been addressed or resolved.  The reports are also supposed to provide a list of individuals who have participated in the community coordinating group meetings and a summary of each community coordinating group meeting.

Annual reports are important to improve transparency and trust with community members.  Since the opening of homeless resource centers in 2019, businesses have experienced repeated damages to their property by people experiencing homelessness and those who prey on homeless individuals. Owners of these businesses can no longer afford to pay for their insurance premiums for the accrued damages, or are afraid to make claims because they’ll be dropped from yet another insurance carrier.

Transparent and consistent reporting informs everyone what it takes to host a Homeless Resource Center and what additional resources would mitigate their impacts so that everyone can be safe.

The reports can be found here
